Los equipos donados por el Organismo Internacional de Energía Atómica (OIEA) para el diagnóstico del coronavirus (COVID-19) ya fueron embarcados desde Viena-Austria hacía nuestro país y se espera que lleguen la próxima semana, según la Cancillería Nacional.

La donación fue gestionada por la Misión Permanente del Paraguay ante el OIEA en Viena y será destinada al Instituto de Investigaciones en Ciencias de la Salud de la Universidad Nacional de Asunción (IICS-UNA), institución que también hará la validación de los test serológicos e inmunológicos a ser utilizados en la campaña masiva de detección de inmunidad a ser llevados en corto plazo. Los equipos incluyen materiales y reactivos a fin de mejorar nuestros sistemas de detección del coronavirus. La segunda institución beneficiada es el INERAN, del Ministerio de Salud Pública y Bienestar Social (MSPyBS)

Esta dotación permitirá mejorar el sistema de diagnóstico de COVID-19 a través de la técnica de diagnóstico conocida como Reacción en Cadena de la Polimerasa con Transcriptasa Inversa en tiempo real (RT-PCR), que detecta e identifica el material genético del virus con alta precisión en cuestión de horas.

La Comisión Nacional de la Energía Atómica (CNEA) dependiente de la Dirección General de Investigación Científica y Tecnológica (DGICT) de la UNA y el Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Comunicaciones (MOPC), junto con el MSPyBS y la Cancillería Nacional, se encuentran coordinando los esfuerzos para que la cooperación recibida por las instituciones públicas responsables de los análisis bioquímicos sea implementada de la forma más eficiente y efectiva posible para hacer frente a esta crisis sanitaria.
